Happy Birthday America!

Of course we're having a 4th of July Sale. It would be unpatriotic not to have a 4th of July Sale. If there's one thing were not, its unpatriotic! We go out of our way to bring you American made furniture from brand names you know and respect like Ashley, Lane, Broyhill, Sealy, Simmons, Catnapper, Vaughn Bassett and of course our own Banner brand Mattresses made right here in toledo.

This isn't the early 2000's either... American made furniture has always been built better but it isn't more expensive than the foreign competitors anymore. This 4th of July, you'll find our stores filled with the lowest prices on American made furniture that feels great to be on, and you will feel great for being on it! So once you've had your fill of hot dogs and apple pie, we'd love to see you in one of our five Toledo showrooms!

We're Not Old, We're Experienced

It took us 80 years to learn how to do it this well! We've always been good at what we do, but after 80 years of providing the furniture styles you love at the best price anywhere, we're experienced enough to know that we can't stop working to improve our company and our service to you.

We're Number One Baby!!

Best Furniture Store: Toledo City Paper's "Best of Toledo 2008"

Thank you Toledo! It's a wonderful thing to have our hard work acknowledged by the people of our wonderful city. This award is of course, all thanks to you, our customers, patrons and friends. As a company we will continue to find ways to improve the services and products that we offer, and we hope that your estimation of our worth to Toledo will only continue to grow.
Here's what the Toledo City Paper had to say!

What's the matter? Cat got your recliner? Dog got your bed? when TCP readers are in need of new furniture, they head to Banner Mattress Co. knowing they'll find exactly what they're looking for. Voted Best Furniture Store 2008, Banner celebrates its 80th Anniversary in June. Owned by the son of the gentleman who purchased Banner back in the '60s, the company that began as simply a mattress manufacturer has evolved into three furniture superstores (with a fourth to open in Bowling Green in June) and two bedding superstores.

"We still make our own mattresses here in Toledo," said Bard Strand, VP of Store Operations. The company produces 25 different types of mattresses, however, consumers can also find other brands -- Sealy, Tempur-pedic, Broyhill, Lane, and Ashley __ at their stores.

Besides manufacturing great mattresses and offering an abundance of well made furniture, Strand takes pride in the great customer service in the showroom, driving deliveries and everything in between. "We have some very, very seasoned long-term employees," Strand said. Many employees have been with banner for 20, 30, even 40 years.

Check out their unique interactive room designer on their website at www.bannermattress.com. Better yet, stop into their showroom and see for yourself. Bet if you're going to make yourself comfortable on one of the heavenly pillow top mattresses, just remember, it's BYOP--Bring Your Own Pajamas.

One Step Closer to World Domination

Banner Mattress and Furniture is Expanding Again.

Banner is pleased to announce that we will be entering the Bowling Green Ohio market with a new full line mattress and furniture store.

This new store is similar in size to our Hill or Alexis location with an additional 6000 square feet of Clearance area. The new store is located at 1111 S. Main Street in the heart of Bowling Green’s major retail area. The Bowling Green Home Depot is right next door and the Wal-Mart is directly across the street.

Due to the size of the location as well as some remodeling that will be required; we expect to open this new store in June of this year. Just in time for our 80th anniversary.

Bring forth, the Comfy Chair!

Buying Guide: Recliners

Remember Martin Crane (Frasier’s dad) and his favorite chair? That eyesore is what many people think of when they hear the word “recliner?. Contrary to that image, motion furniture today is available in many fashionable styles that can be included in almost any setting. Hidden release mechanisms, tucked-away foot rests, and wall-away construction provide great function without compromising style.

The options in reclining furniture are virtually endless. In addition to the motions of recline rock, swivel, and glide, some manufacturers include features such as built-in massagers, heating pads, cup holders, storage cubbies, phones, laptop computer sockets, and even coolers.  Power mechanisms, long the norm in Europe, are becoming more common in the US market.
New designs in motion furniture have been created for home theater settings.  In addition to reclining sofas, loveseats and sectional sofas, one of the latest trends is found in a modular approach that allows you to join together individual reclining units at the arms. These arrangements can align flush to one another, or they can form an arch for optimal screen viewing.

Regardless of the options you choose there are some things you should keep in mind while shopping.  Scale varies, so measure the spot you plan to place the recliner to be sure it fits and to be sure there will be enough room to operate it. Test out the mechanism. It should be easy to operate and sturdy. The sturdier the mechanism, the longer the recliner should last. The mechanism should also be securely attached to the frame. The footrest should be well padded for comfort. Think about the motions you want the chair to have; if it will be placed near the center of a large room, consider a swivel chair so that it can be used in multiple conversation areas. Many recliners hide features and controls under the arms, so be sure to have the sales associate demonstrate the recliner’s features for you.
